One of my favorite things to do is to rummage through the antique books I see at antique shops, estate sales, and thrift stores--each one with its own texture, binding, and publishing style, and each one stamped with a date to tell you just how many years its been passed around. If you're lucky, you'll stumble on some with notes in the margin, or a neatly written dedication tucked behind the cover--breadcrumbs of where it has been and with whom.

Books are as fun to decorate with, as they are to rummage through--and well-placed books throughout your home can serve both purposes well. Light on the wallet, you can swap them out and change them up as often as you'd like.

Blog Tip: find an eclectic mix of 3-7 books in coordinating colors and place on a side table or mantle. The colors will coordinate with your decor, and the interesting mix of subjects and content will keep guests interested and guessing!
